Joomla South Africa

I attended my first Joomla Day with about 80 other Joomla afficionados, addicts, newbies and other interested souls who were prepared to give up their Saturday in favour of learning more about Joomla and meeting other like minded people.

With a mix of experienced users to complete newbies attending the day's fare was a mixed bag of Joomla basics and technical presentations with the presentation on Joomla security by co-organiser Brendon Hatcher of BrilliantWeb probably the most actively participated session, especially in the light of recent Joomla hack-attacks.

I did a presentation about Internet marketing with Joomla that got off to such a nervous start that I was worried that I wouldn't be able to use my full time allocation. Fortunately, participation pick up the session wasn't a total flop.

The Gauteng Joomla community will be gathering in JHB on 18 October for another exciting and interesting Joomla Day.

This follows sucessful Days in Durban and Cape Town earlier this year.

The balanced programme will include topics suitable for new/potential Joomla users through to experienced Joomla web site developers.

The Questions & Answers sessions are particularly fruitful - tap into the wealth of knowledge in participants heads!

We invite you to:

  • submit topics for inclusion in the programme
  • present on a Joomla topic
  • sponsor the event in cash or kind

More details will be published on www.joomladay.co.za as they become available.

I attended the Joomla Day held in Cape Town on the 19th July and wanted to congratulate you on a well organised event. Although I am only a beginner user, I expected most of the content to be a little out of my league but I managed to follow most of it and gained some valuable insight into Joomla as a whole.

The South African Joomla! community has been hard at work to ensure that this year's Joomla! Day event is at least as informative and fun as the three previous successful South African events held during 2007.
